What happened when a bomb fell on 6th Avenue, Hull?

After last week’s excellent opener on London, tonight we move north. In March 1941, a suburban street in the port city of Hull felt the full force of the Luftwaffe.

Meticulous research shows how the fallout from one particular bomb echoed all the way up to Winston Churchill, and down through future generations.

Survivor Doreen recalls hiding in the air raid shelter, while Rod, who was five, reads an essay written by his brother Derek about the Blitz.
