It was a long time coming but Spring seems finally to have sprung as the new 15-parter Britain in Bloom begins.

Which means that around the country, communities are preparing for the Royal Horticultural Society’s annual Britain in Bloom competition.

This weekday series sees former flower trader Chris Bavin visiting 15 of them, kicking off today in Usk, Monmouthshire –aka the ‘Town of Flowers’ – to see how one of the front-runners prepares.
