A gently nostalgic coming-of-age comedy starring Brenock O'Connor
A gently nostalgic coming-of-age comedy starring Brenock O'Connor.
Revisiting the era of wide lapels and even wider sideburns, this movie follows O'Connor's gawky 15-year-old suburban schoolboy as he doggedly supports non-league no-hopers Bromley FC during the 1969-1970 football season, the worst in the club's history.
Based on the memoir by author Dave Roberts, the movie captures the awkwardness of adolescence, and the agonies of the diehard soccer fan. Even if its jokes don't always hit the back of the net, the performances from O'Connor as the story's misfit hero and Martine McCutcheon and Alan Davies as his long-suffering mum and dad ensure that the movie oozes charm.
This film premieres on Sunday 2nd June.
