It is consultant Elle Gardner’s last day on the wards of Holby ED and everyone close to her is feeling emotional, especially work colleagues David ‘Dave’ Hide, Charlie Fairhead and Dylan Keogh, who even manages a rare public display of affection!

Thankfully Jacob Masters – a close pal and father to her son Blake – is on hand to help motivate pancake/Elle as she prepares for her new job as clinical lead at The Royal.

But Elle questions her future when CEO Henrik Hanssen (Holby City star Guy Henry) lets slip that Connie Beauchamp recommended her for the new post!

Shocked and hurt, Elle confronts Connie about her motives, and opens up a can of worms… More spoilers below!

At the start of her shift, clinical lead Connie Beauchamp sits alone in her office, trying to write a meaningful farewell card to her only real friend, Elle. However, words fail her.

Unfortunately for Connie, words don’t fail hospital head honcho Hanssen, who pays the ED a visit this week! Connie has some explaining to do when Hanssen tells Elle that Connie gave her a glowing review. Meanwhile Hanssen demands to know why the ED is underperforming…

With pressure mounting, Mrs B’s hard exterior begins to crack. After a terse showdown with Elle, who recognises her friend is suffering, Connie sets out to prove she’s still queen of the ED, but the exertion takes its toll on her fragile mental health… Will she reach out and ask Elle for help?

Elle is shaken by Connie’s manipulations and worries that she may not have been promoted on her own merit. Will she reconsider her future plans?

Archie challenges Connie’s medical decisions in Resus – has the clinical lead made a catastrophic error in judgement?

Meanwhile, the ED is overrun with casualties from a medieval enactment group. There’s also an intriguing patient case story with sinister overtones!
