Ethan Hardy on Casualty has really been through the wringer in the past couple of years. With his brother Cal’s death, Alicia’s departure and a Huntington’s disease diagnosis to come to terms with, its no wonder last week’s terror attack is having a troubling effect on him.

This week, unable to process what’s happened and haunted by distressing images, Ethan decides to throw himself into work in order to cope. He’s finally on the verge of going home for some much-needed rest when old university friend Theo Laurence (Shetland star Jim Sturgeon) arrives unexpectedly at the ED.

Theo hopes Ethan might be able to help his grown up daughter, Effie, who has been diagnosed with cystic fibrosis, get onto a special clinical trial… And soon Ethan finds himself getting emotionally involved!

We can’t reveal much more but, ultimately, Ethan makes a questionable decision in order to help Effie (The Missing's Abigail Hardingham) and Theo. Yet if he’s found out, Ethan could be struck off!

With Rash Masum’s grieving father Ashock falling apart after the death of mum Madia, the young medic decides to delay his return to work at Holby ED this week.

Rash’s intentions end up taking a detour, however, when calls in to the ED to tell Dylan in person…

Rash (Neet Mohan) gets roped into helping a distressed mother Hollie (Elinor Lawless) with a gravely ill baby. He also gets stuck looking after new F1 Mason! When his father turns up at the ED, dangerously distracting Rash from this life-or-death case, will reluctant acting clinical lead Dylan be sympathetic or scathing?
