In a brave move a group of parents are going back to school to find out the hard way what primary education is like today in Class of Mum and Dad.

This three-part series sees them join a new Year 6 class at Blackrod Primary, near Bolton, where they’re expected to do everything their own children do – including sit SAT exams, wear school uniform and tuck into school dinners.

It’s not long before mum Julia is sobbing in the toilets over a difficult maths paper, dad Jonny is complaining that there are fewer rules in prison and 52-year-old Mark is reliving his hatred of PE.

The result is an eye-opening and surprisingly moving look at what really goes on in our children’s schools…
