Bex Fowler is increasingly frustrated with mum Sonia Fowler fussing over her starting university. In an attempt to focus on something else, she arranges a baby shower for her pregnant friend Louise Mitchell. But when Mel Owen takes over the celebrations, Bex feels pushed out.
Louise’s mum Lisa Fowler spots that Bex is out of sorts and wonders what’s up. When she finds out that Sonia has asked Ian for a loan to cover her uni costs, Bex is frustrated by her meddling. A concerned Lisa tries to get Bex to open up but Bex shuts her out.
Mel Owen ups her blackmail demands on Sharon Mitchell, insisting that Sharon gets her a villa in Portugal sooner rather than later. A worried Sharon tries to convince husband Phil Mitchell to take a holiday in Portugal, keeping the real reason she wants to go there a secret.
She’s seriously worried when Phil insists a holiday is out of the question but she gets help from son Dennis Rickman. When he begs Phil to let them go on a holiday, Phil’s resolve is toppled and he agrees.
Also, Denise Fox is concerned that Wanda is out for what she can get. Jean Slater supports friend Daniel Cook at his hospital appointment.
