Fighter Pilot: The Real Top Gun – ITV
We meet the Tom Cruise wannabes as they learn how to fly fighter jets in ITV’s new documentary series Fighter Pilot: The Real Top Gun
It’s been more than 30 years since cult film Top Gun soared on to the big screen, and before the sequel lands in cinemas next year, ITV is journeying back into the ‘danger zone’ with a new three-part documentary, Fighter Pilot: The Real Top Gun.
The documentary follows a squadron at RAF Valley in Anglesey, North Wales, where student pilots including ‘Sedge’, Andy and ‘Danners’ are learning how to fly Britain’s newest and most advanced fighter jet – the F35 Lightning.
They need skill, determination and a steady nerve, but only the very best will be chosen to join the Lightning force.
Aviator shades at the ready…
‘I think I’ve got what it takes, but I don’t want to make any mistakes,’ says Sedge.
‘I wouldn’t say I have an issue with authority, but I do like to unwind and have a bit of a laugh.
‘I’m coping with the course so far, but every time you go up there, you’ve got to be at the top of your game.’
