He picks figs, samples the olive oil from some of the 2,000 olive trees they have and then cooks a classic pasta dish with just five ingredients – garlic, chilli, parsley, spaghetti and olive oil.

The area is also famous for its white-washed towns, none more so than the city of Ostuni, which rises up gloriously out of the olive groves.

After helping a couple of old gents paint the city walls, Gino makes them a decadent tiramisu.
