Peter Davison and Christopher Timothy bring this series of Great British Car Journeys to a close with a glorious journey along an old Roman road

The genuine warmth between former Doctor Who star Peter Davison and All Creatures Great and Small’s Christopher Timothy has been a joy to watch on these banter-filled Great British Car Journeys (Saturday, 8pm, see our TV Guide for full details).

But now the gents are setting off on their final leg of the series as they drive along the ancient Roman road the Fosse Way.

MORE: Christopher Timothy joins EastEnders

Starting in Axmouth in Devon, they head through the home of the car industry in the Midlands and even find the centre of Roman Britain – in someone’s garden!

Meanwhile, as they get to grips with a 1930s-style driving test, there’s also a lovely moment for Peter when he drives a car that brings back memories of his own early days on the road.

Fingers crossed the chums will be back on their travels again soon!
