Injured nurse Jacob Masters returns to work this week, and is delighted to be back at Holby ED. But clinical lead Connie has reservations. He’s clearly still affected by the terror attack and his gunshot wound isn’t completely healed…

The cracks begin to show when Connie reveals it’s the day of the Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) inquiry into the terror attack that saw a police officer mistakenly shoot Jacob.

At first Jacob is cockily confident justice will be served until Connie tells him the IPCC believe the hospital mishandled the terror attack and Jacob acted improperly!

Jacob flies off the handle and, with his anger boiling over and his mood affecting his work, Connie does everything she can to get him to make a statement to the IPCC. But Jacob’s furious and thinks he shouldn’t have to prove his innocence. However, he finally relents and decides to do things the formal way…

Elsewhere this week, grieving Lily takes her feelings out on junior doctor Alicia. In a bid to prove herself an emotional Lily carries out an unnecessary procedure on a patient that goes terribly wrong.

Alicia steps in and saves the day, earning her praise from Connie, while jealous Lily gets a dressing down.

Meanwhile, Cal tells his brother Ethan he’s going to do a paternity test to prove he’s Matilda’s father. Max applies for a job in Birmingham to escape being in the company of his estranged wife, Zoe, and Dixie discovers Iain and Rita are seeing each other!
