Shirley gets a dinner invite from Polish shop owner Konrad. Meanwhile, when Mick Carter gets some bad news about the cost of repairing The Vic ceiling, Konrad offers to fix it for half the cost of Mick’s original quote. Still short on cash, Mick is thoughtful when Jack offers him a lifeline...

After having called the Walford Gazette about the problems in the local area, Denise has a meeting with a journalist to talk the story through.

Ian is self-conscious about the weight he’s put on in recent years. After an embarrassing incident, he’s honest with Jane about what the nurse told him at his health check. The couple agree to start a new health regime.
