We hope the new Mrs Backshall (Steve married Olympic rower Helen Glover last year) has a stiff drink – and maybe a large cushion to hide behind – while watching the final instalment of her hubby’s epic adventure down the Baliem river in Papua.

The rapids Steve and his team face are terrifying; trapped in a gorge, the crew hurtle down white water, huge waves constantly threatening to overturn their flimsy little kayaks.

Then there is the local tribe who approach weapons drawn, not to mention the massive man-eating crocodiles that can be up to 5m long.

A true seat-of-your-pants, brave, bonkers and epic adventure – and absolutely thrilling television.
