Monty’s searching for a piece of heaven in this two-part journey

Monty’s searching for a piece of heaven in this two-part journey.

Monty Don travels far from his beloved Longmeadow of Gardener’s World fame for this two-part series that takes him to Spain, Morocco, Iran, India and Turkey.

The passionate gardener is in search of the ancient Islamic tradition of the paradise garden.

Each oasis Monty visits has water at its heart, provides shade from the punishing heat and is usually planted with fruit trees like orange, fig or pomegranate.

He begins in Andalucía, southern Spain, at the Alhambra in Granada, which boasts a series of stunning gardens. All of the locations are beautiful, but the green spaces of Iran are a particular and surprising delight.
