The Himalayas take their turn in the spotlight tonight as this marvellous series on the world's greatest peaks continues.

Mount Everest is obviously a focal point and the story of Nepalese runner Mira Rai, who takes part in a super-tough marathon on the world’s highest mountain, is truly remarkable.

But it’s the incredible wildlife that really captivates, from snow leopards to marmots and even a Himalayan jumping spider.

Our favourite creature, though, is the young Yunnan snub-nosed monkey who sadly has a face that not even a mother can love, proved by her chucking him out of his home.

Can the poor rejected youngster ingratiate himself with a gang of bigger, and quite frankly rather thuggish, males in order to survive?
