We follow four very different litters from birth, through the first eight weeks of their lives, to the moment when they leave their mums at two months old.

In Devon, hobby breeder Dan is raising a litter of chihuahuas, while in the Cotswolds, Britain's most popular breed – Labradors, crossed with golden retriever – are being trained to be assistance dogs.

In Gloucestershire, eight Border collie pups are destined to become working sheep dogs, and in Essex, rescue workers are struggling to determine the breed of a litter born to a stray.
