The This World strand looks at the story of Hugo Chávez, the leader of Venezuela from 1998 to 2013.

He came to power full of promises about transforming the lives of the poor.

But 20 years on, Venezuela is in the midst of a crisis, with 90 per cent of families saying they do not have enough to eat.

Chávez was hailed as a new hope for socialism, and in the short term made some reforms to health and education.
