Heavyweight champ Sylvester Stallone’s Rocky is beaten by Mr T’s Clubber Lang and then gets back into shape for the rematch.

This predictable but effective third segment ticks all the right boxes with Rocky picking himself up and, with a lot of help from his old opponent Apollo Creed (Carl Weathers) as his trainer, he prepares to fight another day.

Meanwhile, Talia Shire, as Rocky’s wife, is on the sidelines wearing her best worried face.

Stallone is immensely likeable and Mr T, in his big-screen debut, is a truly awesome adversary.

Helping the slight plot go the distance are Stallone’s dynamic staging of the training and fight sequences and Survivor’s perfect, Oscar-nominated Eye of the Tiger theme song.
