Secrets of McDonald's: 50 Years of the Big Mac

Inside McDonalds - What’s on telly tonight? Our pick of the best shows on Wednesday 20th June

Channel 5 charts the fascinating history of the fast food chain in Secrets of McDonald's: 50 Years of the Big Mac in a one-off documentary

When salesman Ray Kroc turned Maurice and Richard McDonald’s California burger joint into a nationwide chain in 1954, little did they know it would become the most successful fast food corporation in the world.

From the brothers’ invention of the ‘Speedee Serve System’ in 1948, to the backlash over its practices in the 1990s, this is everything you wanted (or didn’t want) to know about McDonald’s.

Fans including Michael Fountaine (above) has taken his liking for the Golden Arches a step further and has collected over 35,000 items of memorabilia. Another big Mac fan(!) is Albert Okuru who has opened his own Unofficial McDonald's Museum in San Bernardino, California.

Albert Okura is a life-long fan and owner of an unofficial museum on the site of the original restaurant.

We’re lovin’ it!
