Tonight and tomorrow (8.30pm), this fascinating two-part documentary finds out by delivering Fitbot, Carebot, Tutorbot and Beam to families around the country and letting them see first-hand how much these state-of-the art machines can (and cannot) do.

Meanwhile, robotics experts Professor Jonathan Rossiter and psychologist Dr Caroline Jay monitor every move – of the robots and, perhaps more importantly, their human hosts.
