Pearce is a married philosophy professor with a notoriously roving eye and Brosnan is the shrewd police detective who puts him under scrutiny after a 17-year-old cheerleader goes missing.
Prickly and evasive, Pearce's academic certainly looks suspicious - to weary wife Minnie Driver as well as Brosnan's detective - but is it simply a series of coincidences that has placed him in the crosshairs?
As thrillers go, this is both low-key and contrived, but the stars' persuasive performances will keep you hooked.
