The second episode of the adaptation of Len Deighton’s alternate-history thriller

‘I’m worried about you. You walk around with your eyes half-shut,’ Douglas Archer’s sergeant tells him at the beginning of the second episode of this adaptation of Len Deighton’s alternate-history thriller.

By the end of the episode, Archer’s eyes are wide open, as he’s caught between his new SS boss, the fanatical Huth – who makes it his business to know every detail of Archer’s professional and private life – and the Resistance.

Huth warns him not to play both ends against the middle but the pressure is beginning to get to the usually cool-headed detective.

As Archer, Sam Riley heads an impressive cast in what is shaping up to be another cracking Sunday-night BBC drama adaptation along the lines of War & Peace and The Night Manager.
