Tanya hasn't heard from Al since their date and Jane suggests that Max may have warned Al off. Tanya questions Al and feels humiliated when Al reveals that he hasn't spoken to Max - he's just not that into her. Meanwhile, Max has picked up an attractive brunette, Lily, in the cafe and shows her off in front of Tanya. He's smug when he discovers that Al isn't interested in seeing Tanya again. Bradley confronts Syd about her recent elusiveness and she claims that she wanted to see him, but she's been too busy to call. Bradley confesses that he's missed her and asks her if they can give things another go. Syd agrees, but then returns home and is greeted at the door by a hunky young bloke... Phil discharges himself from hospital and turns up drunk at Shirley's and collapses on her sofa. Shirley calls Peggy, who pleads with him that she loves him as much as she loves Grant. Later, Phil is thoughtful when Ben gives him a leaflet for an alcohol support group and when Peggy pledges her support he vows to change his ways. Also, Jack arranges a romantic surprise for Peggy; Dotty continues to play mind games with Dot. An entertainment writer with a diverse taste in TV and film, he lists Seinfeld, The Sopranos, The Chase, The Thick of It and Detectorists among his favourite shows, but steers well clear of most sci-fi.
