Former Shadow Chancellor Ed Balls explores Louisiana’s relaxed gun laws as he continues his trip around the USA in the second of the three-part travelogue

Part two of Ed Ball’s enlightening road trip focuses on Trump’s pledge to ‘make America safe again’.

He starts in Louisiana, the state with the highest crime rate and some of the most lenient gun laws in the United States.

The people he meets, including police recruits and a gay gun instructor with a Mexican partner, are determined to protect their right to bear arms, even if that means putting a reality star in charge of the free world.

Ed visits the memorial site at the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida

Then there’s the emotive issue of school shootings, and Ed is left in tears speaking to a survivor’s mother…

If that sounds heavy, there’s a moment of light relief to look forward to, when Ed returns to the dance floor at a club.
