David Tennant takes his family to Scotland for his dad Billy Connolly's 75th birthday celebrations
David Tennant takes his family to Scotland for his dad Billy Connolly's 75th birthday celebrations.
But he's hiding a big secret - he and his wife Rosamund Pike are divorcing and their three kids need to hide the fact they're now living apart from granddad.
This engaging family comedy sees the creators of Outnumbered, Andy Hamilton and Guy Jenkin, repeating the BBC sitcom's winning mix of beleaguered parents, cute scene-stealing kids and spot-on observational humour with audience-pleasing results.
Things do get a little formulaic towards the end, but Pike, Tennant, Connolly and Ben Miller, as Tennant's brother, deliver the well-honed gags with aplomb. As with the TV show, though, it's the children's often-improvised dialogue that provides the funniest moments.
