Roxanne McKee has paid credit to the part Hollyoaks has played in her burgeoning TV career.

Roxanne, who stars in Syfy’s apocalyptic drama series Dominion, played Louise Summers in the Channel 4 soap from 2005 until December 2008, when the character was killed off on her wedding day.

When asked if she’s still proud of her soap roots Roxanne, who has also appeared in Game of Thrones, replied: "Of course, I'm proud of being a part of any job I've been in and I think it would be unusual for me not to be proud of it – Hollyoaks gave me a great stepping-stone."

Roxanne's Dominion co-stars will be familiar to soap fans, too. Tom Wisdom played Corrie crimper Tom Ferguson back in 1999. And, more recently, Shivani Ghai appeared in EastEnders, as Ayesha Rana, a love interest for Masood Ahmed.

Roxanne went on: "I think people underestimate the actors in soap. You’re given scripts the night before and you’re working 13 scenes a day, as Shivani knows." "]

Meanwhile, Dominion’s Anthony Head, who's also starred in Buffy, Merlin and Little Britain, said he would like to appear in a soap one day.

“It’s a very interesting challenge,” he said. “I wouldn’t want to be in one for a long time but I'd love to dip in and see what it was like, just to experience it."

While he admitted he didn’t know which soap he’d choose to be in, Roxanne had a pretty clear idea. To find out what she said, watch the interview, above…

Dominion is on Wednesdays at 9pm on Syfy.
