Has I'm A Celeb's George Shelley bagged himself a role in Hollyoaks?

Union J star George Shelley has been enjoying a well-earned luxury break in Barbados after slumming it in the Australian jungle for I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! But the 22-year-old – who came second in the final of the ITV show – isn’t going to let the grass grow under his feet.

According to reports in the Daily Star today, George has landed himself a role in C4’s Hollyoaks, just a few weeks after saying that he wanted to move away from music to concentrate on acting. And it’s even been rumoured that’s he’s been receiving secret acting lessons from one of Britain’s finest actors – Sir Ian McKellan!

George rose to fame as one quarter of boyband Union J, who came fourth in the 2012 series of The X Factor. Originally a trio, George joined Josh Cuthbert,  JJ Hamblett and Jaymi Hensley to make a quartet. They went on to sign a record deal with Sony Music and released their debut single Carry You in June 2013. Their first album, Union J, followed in the October of the same year and reached Number 6 in the UK Albums Chart. Their second album, You Got It All, was released in 2014 but only managed to reach Number 28 in the charts.

Recently, George's bandmate Jaymi and his fiance Olly Marmon appeared in a celebrity version of Couples Come Dine With Me.

As soon as producers heard that George wanted an acting career they got in touch,” a source tells the newspaper. "They are willing to work around George's schedule so it could either be a cameo or full time role."
