Hollyoaks actress Rachel Shenton has revealed she was relieved to escape the soap's jail set after shooting the scenes in which her character Mitzeee Miniver is behind bars. The character found herself in prison after being wrongly accused of the stabbing of Mercedes McQueen - and after a brief escape is back in jail in this month's Hollyoaks Later episodes. It was so nice to break out because every one of my scenes have been in there in solitary confinement on my own; it was really nice to work with different people. "It was nice that she broke out in the late nights because it meant we were able to push the boundaries - I was able to swear and cry a bit more that I would have been able to in the 6.30pm slot." Rachel added that while she was initially a fan of the jail set, the novelty soon wore off. "At first I loved it, I'd just bring my book and chill out between scenes, it was great. But by the end of it I was like, 'Get me back in the green room'." However she is still hopeful for a happy ending for Mitzeee after such a dramatic year. "I'd just like her to meet someone quite nice," Rachel said. "Everyone she's been out with has s****ed her over. If she met someone nice it would be great. No one from the cast - they're all so damaged in the village!"
