Home and Away teenager Charles Cottier has admitted he was embarrassed to have to act out a crush on an older woman. In the soap, his character Dexter Walker developed feelings for bubbly Marilyn Chambers. Charles, 18, told Inside Soap magazine: "It was one of the first things I read about the character, and I was kind of embarrassed, but excited to do it! "Not every guy comes to Summer Bay and falls in love with with a woman 20 years older than him. My friends gave me grief about that! I got to work with Emily Symons [Marilyn] though, and she's fantastic." The young actor took over the part of quirky Dexter from Tom Green, and admitted he was initially "slightly intimidated" at the prospect of stepping into someone else's shoes. "I hoped people didn't like the old Dexter too much, because what if I came in and disappointed them? "But I realised it's important to do what I want with the character. I sometimes hang out with Tom Green - he's a really nice guy - but I chose not to watch what he'd done. I think Dex is quite a different character now, too."
