Last year’s King of the Jungle Kian Egan talks about life after I’m A Celebrity...

You won the last series of I’m A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here, but would you do it all over again?

“I definitely feel envy towards people doing it this year. It truly is an amazing experience; there aren’t an awful lot of opportunities in life where you get to live like that in the wild for three weeks.”

Were you fazed by the bushtucker trials?

“I enjoyed the challenges – I wanted to do more! But I think as a viewer you want to see the ones who are genuinely afraid or extremely scared.”

You are about to head back out to Australia aren’t you?

“Yeah. I’m going over to do the ITV2 spin-off and to hand over the crown. It’ll be interesting because obviously I’m going out there in a completely different way, but it’s exciting.”

How did it feel to win the show?

“I went in for the experience and the buzz. I never had any expectations of winning, so when it happened, it was the icing on the cake. But even now I don’t think about the winning. I just remember taking part. The only reason I may think about it is all the amazing opportunities that have come my way off the back of the show.”

Your debut solo album, Home, went to No 9 in March. Do you think you’ll be releasing more music in the future?

“Probably. Coming out of Westlife, I expected my career in the entertainment world to end, but then I got myself an agent and different opportunities came up, I’m a Celeb being one of them. I’m pretty taken back by it all.”

Are you looking forward to Christmas?

“Christmas is such a lovely time of year. This will be our little boy’s first year to understand who Santa Claus is, and when the Christmas tree goes up it’ll be a big thing for him. My wife and I are more excited about it for him than for ourselves.”
