Less than a month after X Factor contestant Jake Quickenden was voted out of the contest’s live finals, he finds himself being helicoptered into the Australian bush with former Tory MP Edwina Currie… And, since he landed, Jake’s enjoying a lot more success there.
Edwina didn’t even try to hide her enthusiasm for 26-year-old Jake, saying: “If I was 40 years younger I would cover him with kisses but I’m not 40 years younger and I’m rather a lot older than his mother.”
Former Playboy model Kendra Wilkinson was also pleased to see Jake, who entered camp with Edwina on Thursday morning: “What a nice way to wake up,” she said, smiling.
She wouldn’t be so happy if she knew about the game Jake and Edwina are playing - as part of the contest.
They’re CIA (Celebrity Intelligence Agents), and are being given missions which, if accomplished, will win camp mates packages from home.
They’ve recruited former footballer Jimmy Bullard as an agent - and that will be definitely be a good thing if it stops him parading around camp with his underpants pulled up under his armpits. That’s the kind of image that can linger far too long.
The other bonus of Jake’s arrival is that it’s put the wind up World Superbike champion and alpha male Carl Fogarty.
Until Jake arrived, Carl was the man with the muscles. Now, well, it’s Jake’s body the women can’t take their eyes off… especially Kendra.
