Neighbours' Eve: 'It's like a bomb has gone off!'

Toadie are Sonya are finally set to get hitched in Neighbours next month. But if you've seen the new Channel 5 promo, you'll know that that the wedding is set to take an explosive turn - with TWO regular characters set to lose their lives...

We caught up with Eve Morey, who plays bride-to-be Sonya, to find out more about the dramatic event set to rock Ramsay Street.

Given Toadie's tragic history with weddings and women, is Sonya at all worried about becoming his wife?

"Not at all! Nothing is going to put this girl off getting married, she has wanted this for so long. Although she does spend a lot of time reassuring Toadie and some strange things do happen leading up to the big day. "

How are things between Sonya and Toadie's mum, Angie, in the lead-up to the Big Day?

"Well, things were very tense initially, however Angie actually makes Sonya realise that having a mother figure around isn’t so bad."

What kind of wedding do Sonya and Toadie both want?

"They just want to celebrate with the ones they love and have one hell of a party."

From the behind-the-scenes photos we've seen, it looks like you had great weather for filming the wedding! Where did you shoot the scenes?

"Yes, we did. We filmed it at the beginning of summer and the weather was glorious. The church scenes were shot in a gorgeous little church in the hills surrounding Melbourne and the reception was shot on the backlot at the studio where we film Neighbours."

What's it like filming on location away from Ramsay Street? Is it like a fun day out from 'the office' for everyone?!

"Yes, it’s exactly like that. It’s always exciting filming somewhere away from home, we feel like we’re going on an excursion."

What do you think of Sonya's wedding dress? Did you get a say in the design of it?

"I thought it was perfect for Sonya, traditional but not overly formal and I loved the way they matched in what baby Nell was wearing. No, I leave the costume design up to the experts."

The wedding takes an explosive turn! How does that happen?

"Well, I don’t want to give too much away, but just as the reception is getting into full swing, without warning, there is an explosion – it’s like a bomb has gone off."

When you heard that there was going to be a wedding day disaster, were you immediately worried that you might be killed off??

"Disaster, explosion and casualties are three words no actor likes to read!"

What was it like filming the explosion? Were you anywhere near the flames?

"The explosion was shot on our backlot at the studio. The actual explosion, flames, smoke etc was done in a secure closed off area and shot separately with a limited crew so none of the actors were near any flames. The producers take these scenes very seriously because I guess there is the potential for something to go wrong, so there is a team of safety people around."

We won't give away who dies but can YOU tell us how the aftermath of these episodes is going to affect everyone on Ramsay Street?

"There is going to be significant fall-out from the explosion,  the repercussions of this will be felt for sometime… That’s all I’m saying!"

Don't miss Neighbours on Channel 5 all week from April 15-19 to see the explosive action and aftermath.
