Olympia Valance: 'Filming Neighbours is so unglamorous!'
Neighbours star Olympia Valance – better known as Paige Smith – has claimed filming the soap in Melbourne winters has been known to give the cast frostbite.
The Aussie soap is a big hit with UK audiences, but because it is shot months in advance, the summer scenes are actually shot during the winter.
“ It’s not as glamorous as it looks," said Olympia, at the Neighbours 30th anniversary party in London this week . " It’s always summer in Erinsborough and you guys need a little more summer in your life.
“It’s awful. You don’t realise how awful it. We do this for you guys.
“Sometimes we actually take our clothes off in the pool, at like zero degrees, and we’re up in the mountains so it gets really, really cold.
“There was a couple of years ago that it got so cold, that the girls got frostbite. So now we have hot water bottles and blankets.”
Olympia was at the celebratory bash with co-star Tim Phillipps, who said that the sunshine was one of the reasons why the show is such a hit in Britain.

“Sunshine is a big part of it," he said. "And that means we have to be cold in winter, trying to pretend it’s sunny for you guys!”
