West End star Daniel Boys will represent the UK in the competition to find the singer for a new version of the Neighbours theme tune.
The 34-year-old singer and actor - who was a contestant on the BBC talent show Any Dream Will Do in 2007 - will fly to Melbourne later this month and face a head-to-head sing-off with Aussie finalist Stephanie Angelini, to determine the winner of the Neighbours: Remixed competition.
The overall winner's vocals will be heard on episodes of Neighbours around the world from April this year.
Daniel said: "I'm thrilled to have won the British vote and am so looking forward to going Down Under and representing the UK in the next stage of the competition.
"I will, of course, give it my best shot and hopefully come back the winner! I grew up watching Neighbours and am still a fan today, so the thought of millions of people hearing me singing the famous theme song every time they tune into it is so surreal, but very exciting!''
The British public voted online for five UK finalists after they were previewed on episodes of the soap on Channel 5 last month. Daniel won with 37 per cent of the votes.
The final will be judged by the original singer of the Neighbours theme song, Barry Crocker, along with Neighbours executive producer Richard Jasek and Chris Pettifer, the soap's musical director and screen composer.
Barry sang the theme song, written by Tony Hatch and Jackie Trent, from the beginning of the series in 1985 until 1992.
