We won't be returning to the Solana

Creator Derren Litten has ended months of speculation by confirming that Benidorm won’t be returning, dashing the hopes of fans.

The sunny hit seemed to have been axed by ITV, but then the rumour began that actually it wasn’t the end for the show after 11 years and that it would return. We’d heard whispers here that the show would go on…. but Derren confirmed today that it was the end for the hugely popular series.

“Yes folks it’s true, after months of speculation, I can finally confirm Benidorm series 10 was the LAST EVER TV series of Benidorm - but the story continues of benidormonstage.com. Come see us on tour and see what happens next.”

Derren is referring to his stage show, Benidorm Live, which will go on a 25-date tour across the UK from September.

He added about the end of the ITV hit: "Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened!"

The final visit to the Solana was back in May, featuring a guest appearance from Frankie Goes to Hollywood singer Holly Johnson.

The show first aired in 2007 and even enjoyed a Christmas special back in 2010. It also won a string of National Television Awards, most recently in 2016.
