Breakfast TV presenter Susanna Reid reveals her breast cancer scare

Breakfast television presenter Susanna Reid has described her fear on finding a lump in her breast, as she encouraged women to go for regular cancer checks.

The Good Morning Britain host and former Strictly Come Dancing contestant said she was terrified when she came across a small lump recently after being caught up in a play-fight with her sons.

Writing in The Sun, the 43-year-old told of her relief when the lump was found to be a harmless cyst, but said she wanted to use the experience to remind others to check themselves and visit their doctor if they notice any changes.

She said the experience had “scared the heck out of me”.

“I thought to myself: ‘For the sake of my boys please don't let it be cancer’,” she added.

After a visit to the doctor and a mammogram, which Susanna said was an anxious experience, she was given the all-clear.

The mother-of-three praised the work of the CoppaFeel! charity, which aims to encourage people, especially younger women, to check their breasts regularly to detect breast cancer early.
