Coronation Street fans share GENIUS theory after Geoff's dramatic death tonight

Yasmeen and Geoff Coronation Street
FROM ITV ROOFTOP DRAMA FOR SOAPÕS 60TH ANNIVERSARY Strict embargo 0001 Weds December 9th 2020 The rooftops of Weatherfield have been a symbol of the worldÕs longest running soap opera for 60 years, so it seems fitting that Coronation StreetÕs anniversary episode will see high drama above the cobbles. Millions of Coronation Street fans breathed a collective sigh of relief on Monday as Yasmeen Metcalfe was found not guilty of the attempted murder of her abusive husband. But, as these newly released photographs show, the nightmare is far from over for Yasmeen and granddaughter Alya Nazir. This is the terrifying moment in tonightÕs (Weds 9th) 60th anniversary episode when Yasmeen finds herself stranded on the roof of her house chased by evil Geoff Metcalfe. Geoff gives Yasmeen the keys to number 6 to collect her belongings, but, after brutally attacking Alya in the bistro he heads over to the house. Yasmeen is shocked and terrified to find her tormentor has locked the doors and as he sets fire to the living room she runs upstairs and climbs out onto the roof. There is no escape for poor Yasmeen with Geoff in pursuit and her cries for help are drowned out by the protestors out on the street. As Geoff gets closer Alya appears on the roof, is she in time to rescue her gran? With the police investigating YasmeenÕs claims of being coercively controlled, has Geoff given them the evidence they need to arrest him? Is GeoffÕs reign of terror over his wife finally at an end? Notes for editors In order to film these close contact scenes the actors, stunt doubles and stunt coordinators self isolated and were covid tested regularly throughout the two week shoot. A duplicate low rooftop was built on site and green screen technology used to recreate the background. (See behind the scenes photos) Although stunt doubles were used for some shots the majority of the scenes called for the actors to wear a safety harness as they climbed the makeshift rooftop. Geoff's reign of terror is over at last...

Coronation Street celebrated 60 years of being on our screens with a shocking death twist for Geoff Metcalfe tonight.

Fans of the world's longest-running soap have spent months watching Geoff's coercive abuse of wife Yasmeen (Shelley King) play out.

His vile behaviour saw Yasmeen finally lash out in self defence ending up in prison for attempted murder.

Thankfully Geoff's true colours were finally revealed and Yasmeen was set free from prison on Monday... only for Geoff to continue terrorising her.

Geoff's final torment

Tonight's hour-long episode saw evil Geoff brutally attacking Yasmeen's granddaughter, Alya, in Speed Daal, leaving her for dead on the restaurant floor.

But his plan to kill Yasmeen in a house fire went wrong when she escaped onto the roof in a bid to get help.

Before anyone could hear her cries of desperation, Geoff had climbed onto the roof to chase her, clearly intent on finishing her off for good.

However, the soap gods were ready and waiting, and it was eventually Geoff who finally got his comeuppance and plunged off the roof and landed in the garden with a sickening thud.

But while a fall from a roof that high isn't going to do anyone any favours, fans are convinced there could be another twist in store.

But how will fragile Yasmeen feel that her attempts to save Geoff didn't work?

And more to the point, how is she ever going to get down from that roof?!
