Coronation Street forced to write cobbles LEGEND out of the scenes after SHOCK accident

Coronation Street bosses have been forced to rewrite scenes after legendary actress Sue Nicholls ended up in hospital...

It has been revealed that Coronation Street scenes had to be rewritten recently after actress Sue Nicholls had an accident that left her with a broken collarbone.

The cobbles legend, who has been playing Audrey Roberts since 1979, revealed the news in an interview with mirror.co.uk, and admitted that she hated letting people down after she was forced to take time off work to recover.

The actress, who has just celebrated 40 years on the cobbles, explained: "I live in a tiny flat and Mark (Eden, her husband of 26 years) goes to bed much earlier than me.

"I was creeping around in the dark after taking my face off at about 11pm and sat on the side of the bed.

"But I missed the bed and fell over. I had to have an operation, be written out of some scenes and take time off - which I hate doing as I don't like letting people down. But everyone has been so lovely."

But Sue is adamant that while she might have been forced to take some time out from filming, that doesn't mean Audrey is going anywhere...

"I have fun here, I'd never want to just sit at home. If they ever got rid of me I might try doing other things, but I wouldn't retire."

After joining the soap four decades ago, Sue has seen her character Audrey go through the ups and downs of raising a family in Weatherfield.
