Countdown's Rachel Riley to join BBC Breakfast?

Rachel Riley is a contender to take over from Susanna Reid as a presenter on BBC Breakfast, according to reports.

Susanna, 43, confirmed last week she was leaving the BBC morning show to front ITV's newly-named breakfast show Good Morning Britain, a relaunch of its flagging Daybreak.

Rachel, 28, who currently shows off her head for figures and her own impressive figure on Channel 4 quiz show Countdown, is said to be the favourite to replace Susanna on the BBC Breakfast sofa, according to the Daily Mirror.

Rachel and Susanna both took part in Strictly Come Dancing last year. Other stars reportedly being considered to join 58-year-old co-host Bill Turnbull on the BBC morning show include Channel 5 news presenter Emma Crosby, 36, a former GMTV host.

Sally Nugent, 34, and Louise Minchin, 45, who already have roles on BBC Breakfast, could be given a more permanent slot. But BBC producers are currently in the early stages of talks about who will replace Susanna, and no presenters have yet been called in for formal talks.
