Danny has got news for you!

EastEnders star Danny Dyer is set to host Have I Got News For You, it’s been reported.

The Sun claim that the panel show’s bosses have signed up the EastEnders legend after being wowed by his “everyman approach”.

Danny, who plays Mick Carter in the soap, is seemingly set to front the show next month, meaning he’ll have to keep in order regular team captains Ian Hislop and Paul Merton.

A BBC source told the paper: “The BBC has endless posh presenters but Danny offers something different.

“Beeb bosses think he makes dull topics accessible, and they think he’ll do a good job at holding the fort on Have I Got News For You.”

Danny certainly offered something different when he appeared on the evening version of Good Morning Britain earlier this year and gave his views on the state of the Brexit negotiations.

“You watch Question Time, it’s comedy. No one knows what it is. It’s like a mad riddle.”

Danny was then rather less than complimentary about former Prime Minister David Cameron!. In something we can print, he added about Cameron: “Where is the geezer? I think he should be held accountable for it.”

Last month it was revealed that Danny has another new show on his plate, a new BBC1 history show.

Having found out about his amazing family tree on Who Do You Think You Are?, he will dress, eat, and live his way through the experiences of his ancestors in a new two-part series, Danny Dyer’s Right Royal Family.

“I’m still in shock at the fact that I’m related to such important people,” he says . “I’ve had a ball getting to know them. It was a nutty experience.”

Meanwhile, Danny is also starring with Jo Brand in Nativity the Musical, which will enjoy a run in London at the Eventim Apollo, from 19th to 31st December.

The musical follows teacher Mr Maddens, his crazy assistant Mr Poppy and a class of hilarious children as they try to put on a musical version of The Nativity.

Danny will star in the production as The Hollywood Producer, who Mr Maddens tells the kids will come to see the show, while Jo takes the part of The Critic.
