The Made In Chelsea star was forced to pull out after injuring his foot

Former Emmerdale actor Kelvin Fletcher has reportedly been tipped to replace Jamie Laing on Strictly Come Dancing after the Made In Chelsea star sustained an injury in training.

Jamie was forced to quit the BBC show after a foot injury left him unable to walk.

Sharing the news, he said: "I’m absolutely devastated that I’m unable to continue in the competition, I was so excited to hit the dance floor! I would like to wish the lovely couples all the very best and hope they enjoy their time on the show to the fullest."

Tess Daly later confirmed Jamie was going to be replaced by another celebrity but wouldn't know who until Sunday.

"There’s drama and we haven’t even started yet!" the presenter shared. "I can confirm there will be a replacement and I’ll find out on Sunday who that is. I think that’s when everybody will get the news but that’s when I find out, I know."

However, according to The Sun, actor Kelvin, who played Andy Sugden on the soap, has already started rehearsing for the show, which kicks off tonight.

“Bosses are considering Kelvin carefully and think he has the mix of charisma and acting credentials to entertain viewers," a source told the publication.

"Kelvin has been rehearsing with the team for the past couple of days and he’s definitely impressed bosses - he’s favourite to replace Jamie at the moment.

“Kelvin quit Emmerdale to pursue other career prospects and few things are better at raising celebrity profiles than appearing on Strictly," they added.

Kelvin left the soap in 2016 after 20 years playing Andy. Explaining the decision behind his departure, he revealed at the time: "My time came now. It’s a decision I have pondered on for about 18 months.

"About 12 months ago I made the decision to leave, with no discredit to the show – if anything it was because of their creativity which has given me a sense of confidence and believe I could go on and do something else."

While speaking earlier this year, Kelvin ruled out a return to the soap, saying he had "very much moved on".
