Soap fans will be able to watch their favourite Coronation Street stars take on the Emmerdale cast in a netball match to raise funds for ITV's Text Santa appeal.

The Soap Showdown will take place at the Manchester Thunderdome in Gorton on Saturday, November 22.

It's a rematch after a similar event last year saw a sell-out 1,000-strong crowd cheer on the teams, and this time Emmerdale will be out for revenge following their 33-28 defeat to Corrie.

The Coronation Street side will again be captained by Katy Cavanagh (Julie), with Jane Danson (Leanne) and Tisha Merry (Steph) also returning to the team and former Emmerdale star Hayley Tamaddon (Andrea) a new recruit.

Emmerdale's Charley Webb (Debbie) will skipper her team again, with Michelle Hardwick (Vanessa) and Eden Taylor-Draper (Belle) also pulling on the Emmerdale dress for the second time. Co-stars Sammy Winward (Katie) and Amy Walsh (Tracy) will leave the Woolpack behind to make their debuts.

More cast members are expected to be added to each team in the coming weeks and, not wanting to be left out, male cast members will also be playing supportive roles at the match.

The soap stars will team up with players from their local netball Superleague team - Manchester Thunder and Yorkshire Jets - along with members of their respective production crew.
