Sir Lenny Henry, Richard Osman and Coronation Street cast share love on A-level results day

Celebrities including Kathryn Drysdale, Corrie's Rob Mallard and Dame Sarah Storey offered their congratulations to everyone collecting A-Level results today.

Celebrities have joined together to send their best wishes as A-level students across the country picked up their results today.

Comedian and actor Sir Lenny Henry sat on the clearing office hotline at Birmingham City University – where he acts as Chancellor – to answer calls from prospective entrants.

Speaking on BBC Breakfast on Thursday, he told viewers: "Education is for everybody… even people with the weirdest of results, there’s a place for them.

Sir Lenny was on hand to help in the clearing office

"One in eight people get university positions from clearing, so you’re not alone if your marks are all over the place and there is probably a place for you."

The whole cast of ITV soap Coronation Street also reached out with a special video message from actor Rob Mallard, who said: "A-level results day! Hope you got the results you wanted, and even if you didn’t, we still think you’re brilliant."
