Mel C slams X Factor over Matt Cardle snub

Spice Girls star Mel C has blasted X Factor producers for leaving former winner Matt Cardle out of a recent promotional video for the show.

The clip features appearances from a host of former winners and acts who went on to find fame, including Alexandra Burke, Cher Lloyd, JLS and One Direction.

However there is no sign of Matt - who beat OneD in the 2010 final - and Mel, who has teamed up with the singer for the duet Loving You, has made her feelings known about the snub.

"I think it's really f***ing rude the way they have left him out," she told the Sunday People.

"He was such a great winner and he's gone on to do brilliant things. Matt's possibly one of the best winners on the show."

Matt, 30, was dropped by Simon Cowell's record label following the release of his first album Letters - and now releases his music independently, hitting number eight in 2012 with his album The Fire.

He recently revealed he was not upset at being left out of the promo clip, saying: "I'm not miffed at all. I expected to be cut from the mash-up video right from the start."

Mel, meanwhile, has said that Matt has 'longevity ahead' in his career, adding: "Let's face it, that doesn't fall into the life of many X Factor winners."

The new series of the show will begin on ITV on August 31 with a double bill of shows on both the Saturday and Sunday.
