Papa Brady promises Hollyoaks drama

Hollyoaks newcomer Fintan McKeown has hinted his arrival will bring drama to the village. The actor, who has appeared in Merlin, Game Of Thrones and Star Trek: Voyager, makes his soap debut in December as Seamus 'Papa' Brady, the evil father of Cheryl (Bronagh Waugh) and Brendan (Emmett J Scanlan). "This is my first appearance in soap opera and I hope I can bring something unique to the style and format of the show," he said. "I enjoy working with everyone on set, especially my on screen family, Emmett and Bronagh. I can't wait for all the drama that will inevitably ensue..." Seamus' arrival on December 20 (or December 19 on E4 First-Look) is tipped to lead to contrasting reactions with his off-spring. Bad boy Brendan could become even more dangerous following his years of abuse at the hands of his dad and may be forced to confront his demons, while his sister Cheryl remains unaware of the very different childhood her sibling had. Fintan's casting follows other stars like Jeremy Sheffield and Nikki Sanderson, who have joined the cast of C4's drama series. Hollyoaks is shown on Channel 4 on week nights.
