BBC bosses are said to be in discussions about how to 'sex up' next year's Strictly Come Dancing, according to the News Of The World. The paper reports that show chiefs are looking at new ways to bring in more viewers after the current series was beaten in the ratings by The X Factor. In 2007 Strictly was ahead of the ITV1 show in the ratings, but this year it's been a different story. Although over 13m people did tune into Saturday's final, in which actor Tom Chambers was crowned series champion, the show has been pulling in an average of 9.3m viewers compared to X Factor's viewing average of 10.6m. "This has been the most boring Strictly series," a BBC insider told the paper. "There's real concern viewers have turned away and won't come back, so next year the show will be completely revamped." "The only real drama was around John Sergeant and they couldn't even get him to stay." One idea is to book younger, single celebrities and pair them with dancers who are also single, in an effort to get romantic sparks flying. "There needs to be romance and scandal behind the scenes to make a show like this work," the insider said. And new professional dancers may be drafted in, following the popularity of series newcomers Kristina Rhianoff, Brian Fortuna and Hayley Holt, to replace some of the older faces. The results show is also tipped to move from Sunday nights back to Saturday, to rival The X Factor results show and also prevent the result from being leaked out. "The problem with delaying the results show until Sunday is that the show loses a lot of buzz," the insider added. "A lot of viewers haven't bothered to watch Strictly on Sundays and find out the results through Internet message boards. It hasn't worked."
