Edwina Currie has become the first casualty of Strictly Come Dancing 2011, after losing out in the first results show of the new series. The former MP lost out after finding herself in the bottom two with Audley Harrison - but was knocked out by the boxer after the judges' scores from the past fortnight and the public votes were combined. Her departure follows a fortnight in which she failed to impress the judges, scoring just 17 points for her cha cha cha in the first week and 19 for her foxtrot on Saturday night. However she admitted that she was disappointed to be the first one out - and paid tribute to her partner. "I feel very very sorry for Vincent because he has worked very hard," the 64-year-old said. "He's been a terrific teacher, he really, really has. Anything that we did wrong is entirely my fault. "Whoever dances with Vincent is a very, very lucky woman. It has been fabulous - absolutely fabulous." And Vincent also admitted he had enjoyed working with Edwina. "I just want to say I've had so much fun with you," he said. "Which I didn't expect because you were a politicianist." Saturday night's show had seen Edwina receive lukewarm reviews from the judges for her foxtrot, with Bruno Tonioli comparing her to "a bendy bus on a tight roundabout" and Len Goodman hinting that the dance "could be your last supper". Her departure leaves 13 celebrities standing - including Jason Donovan and Holly Valance, who finished first and second on Saturday's scoreboard - while other popular contenders such as Russell Grant and Anita Dobson also made it through to next week. Nancy dell 'Olio also went through despite finishing in last place on the scoreboard two weeks in a row. Next weekend's show is a Broadway-themed edition, with one more couple set to leave for good.
