Strictly Come Dancing has revealed that TV and radio presenter Katie Derham is the fifth contestant confirmed in the line-up for this year’s contest.

Katie once confessed to being “slightly obsessed” with Strictly but reveals her best dancing comes when she’s had a drink…or two.

“I'm a typical wedding dancer - two glasses of Prosecco and I’m truly fabulous. Or so I think,” Katie said, after her name was revealed by the BBC.

She might not be much good with the footwork - yet - but music is a big part of her life.

As well as presenting the BBC Proms, Katie has hosted The Classic BRIT Awards, learned to conduct an orchestra on the reality show Maestro and is currently presenting BBC Radio 3’s Afternoon On Three.

And Katie has a competitive streak which saw her  become  the youngest newscaster on British national television and the youngest in ITN history at the age of 27.

Now 45, Katie is looking forward to “being taught to dance by world champions”, plus learning a “proper samba”, as lots of her family lived in Brazil until the 1950s.

And Katie, who’s married to restaurateur John Vincent, knows she can count on the support of her “extremely excited” daughters, Natasha 15 and Ealeanor, 10, who both love dancing.

“My dancing daughters have been trying to show me all their stretching exercises ...but they are way out of my league!” she says.

Katie is the fifth contestant to be confirmed for this year's competition, along with former Coronation Street star Georgia May Foote, EastEnders star Kellie Bright, celebrity chef Ainsley Harriott and TV and radio presenter Jeremy Vine.

Strictly Come Dancing returns to BBC1 for its 13th series later this month.
