Tamera Foster gets the X Factor boot

Tamera Foster has missed out on a place in the X Factor semi-final after becoming the latest act to be voted off the show.

The 16-year-old singer - the last of Nicole Scherzinger's remaining acts in the competition - lost out after finding herself in the sing-off for the second time alongside Luke Friend.

However a split decision among the judges took the vote to deadlock for the first time this series, with Tamera leaving after she was revealed to have polled the lowest number of public votes.

While Nicole and Louis Walsh stuck by their acts, Sharon Osbourne and Gary Barlow had a harder decision to make.

And while Sharon saved Luke - saying "forget everything that's gone before, there's no competition" - it was ultimately Gary who sealed Tamera's fate.

"This is very 50/50 split for me because you were both amazing last night," he admitted. "I think I'm going to put it back in the hands of the public."

The teenager took her defeat graciously, saying afterwards: "Thank you so much for this opportunity and I have had the most amazing time, I couldn’t have asked for anything more.”

Nicole, meanwhile, appeared visibly shocked at the loss of her final performer, and added: "Gary said it last night, look ahead five years into the future, she is going to be the most successful artist to come out of this show.”
