Leona Lewis gets a BIG shock during The Voice Knockouts round on Saturday night

Leona Lewis enjoyed a sweet reunion with an old classmate on Saturday night's episode of The Voice UK.

The former X Factor winner joined judge Jennifer Hudson for Saturday's Knockout round of the competition, to assist with the pre-performance rehearsals.

But what the singer likely didn't bargain for was a blast from the past, after being reunited with old school friend Jason Nicholson-Porter.

Jason was competing for a spot in Jennifer's team on the show, and was tasked with performing the Mariah Carey and Whitney Houston hit, 'When You Believe'.

But before performing in rehearsals for Jennifer and Leona, Jason confessed that he actually knew her from many years ago.

He told her, "I went to school with you, in Tottenham", to which Leona responded, "John Hopper?"

The singing star was clearly floored by the memory, pronouncing, "Oh my god!". In the sweet moment, the pair then embraced in a big hug.

Leona Lewis went on to reveal how proud she was of her former school-friend for pursuing his dream.

She confessed, "I haven't seen Jason since we were 12. I'm just so so proud of him. I'm so proud to see him here."

After the touching meeting, Jason took to the stage to perform for his spot on the show. And luckily Leona's advice paid off, as his performance was met with raptuous praise from the judges.

Jennifer, referring to Jason's religious background, said, "There's only one word for this – you are anointed. It's a very rare special gift, no coincidence that you're on this stage."

While fellow judge Olly Murs agreed, saying, "Your vocal ability is insane."

However, it seems it wasn't to be for Jason, as the singer eventually failed to make it through to the next round of the competition. Instead, Jason was pipped to the post by opera duo Belle Voci, who Jennifer Hudson eventually decided to put through.

The Voice UK returns to ITV next Saturday at 8.30pm.
